Abstract

14,052. Godillot, E. July 2. Gas and like engines.-Two-stroke cycle engines, which are charged and scavenged by auxiliary pistons driven by cams from the crank-shaft, have radial cylinders as shown in Fig. 1, and the auxiliary pistons c are driven by outside rods having friction rollers which engage with a pair of projecting cam - surfaces d mounted on opposite ends of the crank-shaft D. The pistons c remain stationary during a part of the working stroke and advance to expel the products of combustion through the ports h. Explosive charges are drawn in behind the pistons c and forced into the working cylinders through valves e as the pistons return. As the cams are symmetrical, the engine will run in whichever direction it is started.
