Four-stroke-cycle engines; driving - gear. - Oppositely - moving pistons which work in an open-ended cylinder are connected to a crankshaft c through rocking beams f, i and rods c, g, h, j. The beams are carried by a framework secured to the cylinders or to some other stationary part of the engine, and are inclined or set back to enable.the rods g, j to engage their respective cranks. The cam shaft is located at n and the distributing-valves are arranged one on each side of the cylinder. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 21,136/96, 23,559/98, 9377/00 and 11,247/00.
