Abstract

Change-giving apparatus; money boxes or receivers.-The, apparatus is for use with gas or electricity meters, the coins, after freeing these, serving as change. The meter coins are piled in a tube having an observation slot visible through a glazed front portion of the meter casing and are delivered one at a time, after insertion of a coin of higher value in a slot 4, by a recessed slide 2. The slide 2 has a pawl 13 which rotates one tooth at a time a ratchet wheel 12 until a spring- pressed bolt 11 re-engages a hole 14 in the wheel. A spring-pressed stud 21 on the frame engages holes 22 on the wheel to position it after each operation. In a modification, the slide 2 actuates the wheel 12 at the end of its inward strode. Coin action, mechanical-connection; coin-discharging mechanism.-The coin of higher value is inserted in a chamber 8 in a slide 7 which is then pressed in so that the coin engages a lever 10 to withdraw the bolt 11. The coin is held between the lever 10 and the inclined edge 16 of the slide support, until the wheel 12 is advanced one tooth by the removing slide 2. A cam 18 on the wheel 12 then acts on the bolt 11 to move the lever 10 further and allow the coin to drop.
