Abstract

Money boxes or receivers; change-giving apparatus. - Relates to change-giving apparatus for use with coin-freed gas and electricity meters and other apparatus in which the coins after freeing the gas meter &c. are delivered to a storage tube to serve as change on the introduction of a coin of higher value. According to the invention, a counterweighted lever 4, Fig. 1, projects into the storage tube, 3 and is moved by the coins, when the tube 3 is full, into the path of an arm 10 on the spindle 7 of the coin carrier of the gas meter &c. The coin carrier is thus prevented from being returned into alignment with the coin insertion slot 9, which remains closed until a coin of higher value is inserted in the change-giving apparatus and the change is extracted from the tube 8. In a modification, Fig. 4, the lever 4 acts on a lever 12 and causes a projection 14 thereon to move into the path of a pin 15 on the coin-carrier itself.
