Change-giving apparatus; money boxes or receivers.-Relates to coin-freed apparatus such as described in Specifications 201,233, 206,968, 208,615 and 208,802, in which the coins after freeing the machine are led to a storage tube from which they may be withdrawn as change on the insertion of a coin of higher value and in which the coin slot of the main machine is closed when the storage tube of the change-giving device is full. According to the invention as shown applied to a prepayment meter, a short tube 6 which is the only part requiring modification in order to adapt the change-giving apparatus to meters or apparatus of different makes, is employed between the coin receiving drum 4 of the meter and the storage tube 1 of the change-giving apparatus, the tube 6 carrying a lever 9 the nose 12 of which engages an arm 14 on the spindle of the drum 4 to prevent this from being operated when the storage tube 1 is full. The tube 6 has an extension 7 for catching and guiding coins as they fall from the drum 4. So as to be readily removable, the tube 1 has a square flange 16 slidable in stationary guides 17, a drop pawl 18 holding it in position. The mechanisms for introducing a coin of higher value and for withdrawing change, which are of known type, together with the tube 1 are all mounted on an angle plate 20.
