Abstract
400,603. Coin-freed apparatus. BUTLER, W. H., Lea Brass Works, Lea Road, Dronfield, near Sheffield. Feb. 22, 1932, No. 26239/33. Divided on 398,832. [Class 27.] Testing coins; clearing-apparatus, automatic.-In coin-freed vending-machines of the kind having an inclined coin-traversing channel formed of a stationary and a movable member and provided with a magnet for arresting iron or steel discs &c., the stationary member 16, which may be an integral extension of the coin drop plate 3, and a movable member 17 pivoted at 18 to the member 16, are so positioned that the inclined coin-traversing channel formed by them is located below the coin-insertion slot 4 and to one side thereof, the movable member 17 being suspended so that it lies by gravity in abutment with the stationary member 16, which is inclined across a vertical plane through the pivot 18, the movable member being actuated by a slot-obstruction member 28 displaced by the insertion of a coin in the slot 4, whereby any impeded disc is thrown out of the coin-traversing channel. The member 28 is pivoted at one end and provided at its free end with a suspended cranked bar 17a, engaging the movable member 17. A leg 20 on the member 17 passes between the ends of a magnet 19, from which it is adapted on outward movement to detach iron &c. discs, which fall into a return shoot. Small discs fall through an opening 22.
