[Class 27] Coin action, weight and multiplecoin.-In coin-collecting mechanism for vending machines, the coins inserted in a slot 6, Fig. 1, roll down a shoot 7 and drop in succession into shoots 12-12<111>, the last coin of the number required for prepayment for an article passing to a shoot 12<iv> where it trips or actuates mechanism to release the previously inserted coins of the series and to effect goods delivery. Each of the shoots 12-12<111> has pivoted at 3 outside one wall 1<1>, Fig. 3, thereof a shutter 2 provided with a tongue 4, which enters the shoot through a slot 5, when a coin has dropped into the shoot and moved aside a tail-piece 15 on the shutter, the coin coming to rest on a support 13 carried by a rockable rod 14. The tongue 4 provides a platform over which the next coin rolls to the next shoot of the series, each shutter in its open position carrying a stop 9 which prevents the coin from jumping over the open mouth of the shoot. The last coin passing down the shoot 12<iv> displaces a bar 17 projecting from the rod 14 and rocks this rod to release the coins on the supports 13. The rocking of the rod 14 actuates a device, (not shown), to allow or effect delivery of an article. When the coins are released, the shutters return by gravity to their open position. One or more of the shutters may be closed by levers 8, which are under the control of an official, so that the mechanism may be set for collecting payments of different amounts.
