Delivery of articles stored on endless bands.- In apparatus for vending newspapers or the like comprising holders attached to endless chains mounted on sprocket wheels within a casing having a. delivery opening, an ejector, which normally occupies an empty holder opposite the delivery opening, is withdrawn therefrom, after operation of the coin release, by means of a handturned shaft, which also moves a slider or pawl to turn the sprocket wheels so that a. charged holder is brought opposite the delivery opening, and then causes the ejector to enter this holder so that the newspaper therein is delivered. Clip holders t are carried by chains p passing round sprocket wheels l, n After release by the coin a shaft 8 is turned by a handle 12 and by means of a crank 17 and lever 35 and aided by a spring 11 draws an ejector v out of the holder opposite the delivery opening 28. A cam on the shaft 8 then pushes down a slider y against the pull of a spring 2 and the lower end x of the slider engages one of a series of pins w on the sprocket wheel n and turns the latter, thus moving the chains to bring the adjacent holder opposite the outlet 28. The ejector is then moved downwards by the crank 17 to discharge the contents of this holder. Coin-slit closing devices.-A pivoted arm 37, which rests on the contents of the holder in the delivery position and of the next holder, and' therefore falls when the apparatus requires recharging, is connected by a link 39 and a sliding rod 56 to bell-crank levers, one of which lifts an indicator to a position behind a window 58 and the other moves a pin to prevent insertion through a coin slot 19. Coin action, weight; coin-discharging mechanism.-The coin inserted through the slot 19, passes through a stationary shoot 20 and pivoted shoot 21 and engages pins 22 on a lever 24, which is turned about, its pivot by the weight of thecoin. Its motion is communicated by a link 25 to an arm 16, the end of which is thus moved from engagement with a stop 15 on the shaft 8 so that the latter is released. During rotation of the shaft 8 the stop 15 engages a lever 30 connected by a rod 31 with the pivoted shoot 21, so that the latter is moved to withdraw the coin from the pins 22 and allow it to fall into a coin box.
