[Class 27] In amusement machines comprising a coin or check freed mechanism and a pay-out mechanism, the payout mechanism is associated with a hopper for coins, checks, &c. and a container for prizes in kind so that said mechanism can act to deliver coins &c. and prizes in kind, means being provided to prevent at will either the coins &c. or the prizes in kind from being delivered. As applied to a game in which three balls are projected by a lever f, Fig. 2, between glass panels c, d to drop into three pockets g and tilt levers g<1> to release a lever k<1>, Fig. 3, which is rocked by springs k<2> to cause a slide k<4> on its lower end to deliver a prize, the prize may consist of coins &c. in a hopper j or prizes in kind in a container l. The slide k<4> works over a support k<6>, Fig. 5, and has a slot k<5> which receives a number of coins &c. from the hopperj. These are carried, when the lever k<1> is released, over a slot k' in the support k<6> and pass to a delivery tray. The slide k<4> may also push out a prize in kind from the container l. Slots j<2>, l<2> are provided respectively in the hopper and container to receive a bar which prevents the coins &c. or the articles from passing down into the path of the delivery slide. By this means one or other of the containers j, l is put out of action ; the slide k<4> is shown in Fig. 5 as acting to deliver prizes in kind only. After insertion of a coin and rotation of a knob, a plate h<4> carried by a shaft h<3> is swung aside to allow the levers g<1> to tilt further and the balls to drop to a ball receiving member from which they are delivered one at a time for play by rotating the knob. The plate h<4> is also moved aside to release the balls when the pay-out mechanism is actuated by a pivoted device m. Coin action, mechanical-connection.-A coin drops to a position between the end of a lever h<1> and a crank pin h<2> on the shaft h<3>. When the outside knob is rotated, it rocks the lever h<1> through a linkage i<1>, i<2>, thereby depressing the coin and rocking the shaft h<3> and plate h<4>. The coin continues down the coin shoot to the container j.
