Abstract

405,745. Coin-freed article-delivering apparatus. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Automaten-Ges. Schulte & Co. ; 75, Paulsbornerstrasse, Halensee, Berlin). Sept. 24, 1932, No. 26602. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 1, 1933.] [Class 27.] Articles stored in piles.-In a small coinfreed vending machine, the pile of articles d, Fig. 2, rests on a plate c pressed up by a spring c<1>, the pile being normally held down below the level of a discharge shoot bl by an ejector d<1> which is carried by a slide f. The slide f, which works between two cover plates e, e<1>, has a handle f <1> engaging in a slot f<11> in the cover e and is normally held by a spring m, Fig. 3, with its end s, abutting against the left-hand side of the casing, Fig. 2. After insertion of a coin, an operator, by gripping the handle f <1> and a fixed handle g, displaces the slide f to the right until the ejector d<1> fits a recess d<11> in the right-hand wall of the casing, the spring m thus being tensioned. The pile now moves up until the top article engages a strip o<1>, so that, when the handle f is released, the spring m returns the slide and the ejector d<1> pushes out the top article to the shoot b<1> leading to a delivery opening a<11>. To prevent entry of dust &c. the slot f<11> is closed in the end positions of the slide f by a cover plate g<1>. Coin-slit closing-devices ; " empty " machines, locking.-When the last article is delivered, a stop stop c<11> on the plate c passes through a hole in the strip o<1> to act on a pin o which is carried by a locking-plate n located between the covers e, el. The plate n is thus moved up and its hooked end n<11> prevents the full return of the slide f to its normal position. A lug s<1>, Fig. 3, on the slide f covers the coin-slit m<11> and prevents the insertion of further coins. Coin - action, mechanical-connection.-A coin inserted through the slot m<11> drops to a pocket h, Fig. 4, on the slide f. It raises a pivoted spring-pressed latch k, Fig. 3, from engagement with a side h<11> of the pocket on the first movement of the slide from its initial position. At the end of the movement of the slide to the right, a wedge-shaped stop l<11> enters a slot g in the pocket and ejects the coin laterally. A tooth p acted on by a spring p<1> engages the coin between the two webs of the side h<1> of the pocket and prevents return of the slide to its initial position after a short movement if the handle f is inadvertently released. Testing coins ; fraud, preventing.-In a modification, Fig. 7, the pocket has two pairs of guide bars h<1>, h<11> which test the diameter of the coin i. A pair of resilient tongues u<1> mounted beneath the coin slit m<11> prevent the passage of cardboard discs and strip foil or paper from coins of less than the proper size. A spring v mounted beneath the pocket compresses a cardboard disc and engages a notch v<11> in the pocket thereby preventing movement of the slide f. Raising of the latch k by a paper strip or wire inserted through the coinslit is prevented by a stop pin w on the coin pocket. In a further modification, Fig. 12, a magnet z carried by a rocking arm z<2> withdraws a magnetic disc laterally from the pocket. The arm has a nose 22 which is engaged by wedge-shaped parts on the slide f to rock the arm. A fixed stripper 20 detaches the magnet disc from the magnet and allows it to drop in the direction of the arrow. A ball 24 disposed in a conical recess 23 in the cover plate el actuates the locking-plate n if the apparatus is tilted. This causes the plate n to prevent movement of the slide f even if a correct coin be inserted. The slide f carries a wall which closes the opening between the cover e<1> and the top of the shoot b<1> when the slide is moved to tension the actuating spring m. This prevents fraudulent abstraction of articles through the delivery opening.
