[Class 27] Coin-slit closing-devices.-In a prepayment gas meter, a bend 17 in a lever 7 pivoted at 8 enters a slot 9<1> in the coin-shoot 9 and obstructs the coin-slit when the maximum permissible number of coins has been inserted and also when the quantity mechanism has reached its zero position due to the consumption of gas. The lever 7 is controlled by a disc 6 on the shaft 5 to which is fixed the planet-wheel carrier arm 21 of the epicyclic quantity mechanism 1, 2, 3 controlling the gas valve. The disc 6 has a recess 61 in its circumference into which an arm 7<1> of the lever 7 can pass, and also a pin 62 which coacts with the end 31 of the bent arm 17. When the carrier 2<1> is at zero position as indicated by a pointer 4 and the gas valve is closed, the arm 7<1> drops into one end of the recess 61 and the arm 17 closes the coin-slit. To obtain a further supply, a lever 11 is actuated by a knob 10 to swing the lever 7 out of obstructing position, and a coin inserted. This moves the disc 6 so that the arm 71 travels on its periphery and the slot is maintained open for the insertion of further coins. When the maximum number of coins are inserted, the disc 6 is rotated so far that the arm 7<1> drops into the other end of the recess. The pin 62 now bears against the end 31 and prevents the lever 7 from being swung out of the coin-slit, so that further coins cannot be inserted until an appropriate quantity of gas has been consumed and the pin 62 moved away from the end 31.
