A., 59, Brompton Street, both in Oldham. April 17, 1931, No. 11398. [Class 27.] Coin action, thrust and multiple-coin.-The coin-holder of a gas or like meter which may be adjusted to take different sized coins, is set to take a small coin by a member b, Figs. 1 and 4, hinged to a, sliding member k which is moved against the action of a spring m by the insertion of a coin to cause a tooth n thereon to engage a quantity-wheel o. The member b has a part c which, when the member is turned up, projects through a slot d in the coin-holder to shorten the length of the coin-slot and form the part against which the coin presses. When the meter is to be used with a large coin, the member b is held in its down-turned position by a blade spring w, and the coin presses against a part p on the slide k. The member b has a pin-and-slot connection f with a member g pivoted to the coin-holder at h so that, when the meter is set for a small coin, the member g is moved and a pin i thereon engages a member j to cause a change in the gear between the metering and the valve operating quantity mechanism. A suitable change gear is described in Specification 368,324. When the meter is set to take a large coin, the pin i projects into a groove q in the quantity wheel o.
