Abstract

682,806. Prepayment meters operable by coins of more than one denomination. BRADDOCK & CO., Ltd., T. June 20, 1951 [June 21, 1950], No. 15524/50. The striker h of the prepayment mechanism illustrated is pivoted at h' and adapted to engage, according to the value of the coin inserted, either directly with a coin wheel a, or with teeth f on a pinion d' free on a spindle e carried by the coin holder and formed with teeth g meshing with a second coin wheel b. The striker h is turned about its pivot on the coin holder by the usual coin slide k which carries a pin j engaging in a slot i in the striker; the slot is so formed that, the striker engages the coin wheel a when a sixpence is inserted and is coupled, as described above, to the coin wheel b when a shilling is inserted. An enlargement m on the pin i engages a slot n in the coin holder to assist in guiding the coin slide.
