Electricity, supplying by meter.-In a coinfreed electricity meter, the switch arm i, Fig. 2, provided with spring contact-making parts i<1>, is normally held away from contacts l by a spring k. It has a pin-and-slot connection m with an arm h pivoted on the same centre as a spring-controlled arm g, which is acted on by a cam on a rotary barrel a to move the arm g away from the arm h. When the arm g is released by the cam, it flies back against the arm h, so that the switch i is also propelled and by its inertia comes into engagement with its contacts. The rotation of the barrel a, when a coin is inserted, through a lever c and pawl and ratchet d, e sets forward one member of the usual epicyclic differential gear f, and a slotted wheel q, which holds in its raised position, by engagement with a pin t, Fig. 3, thereon, a weighted lever o raised by the action of the arm h in its open position on a pin o<1> on the lever.
