Abstract
319,085. Fry, C. E. June 29, 1928. Coin action, mechanical-connection. -A coin inserted in the holder 9 pivoted to the framework at a forms an abutment. for one end of a pivoted lever 15, carrying a stop 7 in the path of a broken annular rim 16 on the operating disc 2. A tail-piece 17 on the coin-holder 9 engages the edge of the disc 2 and is normally held in a notch 18 of the disc by a spring. When there is no coin in the holder, the disc 2 can only be turned until the edge 8, of the rim 16 meets the stop 7. the coin holder riding freely over the lever 15, but a coin in the holder engages the ends of the lever 15, and the initial movement of the disc 2 moves the catch 7 clear of the rim 16, permitting continued movement of the disc 2 through one revolution. The device is shown as applied to an electricity prepayment meter with control disc 19 as described in Specification 319,423. Coin-slit closing-devices; discharging coins. - The rim 16 is shaped at 16<a> to move the lever 15 away from the coin and allow it to drop. If the coin fails to drop the lever 15 cannot return when the rim 16, 16<a> has passed the stop 7, and the stop 7 remains in the path of a lug 2<a> on the disc 2 which prevents further movement of the mechanism to a position in which the coin could be removed from the holder. Backward movement of the disc 2 is prevented by a bevelled pin on a spring arm 5 engaging holes in the disc. The control-disc 19, which is driven by the disc 2 through a star-wheel 4, is formed with a shoulder 27, so that after insertion of a predetermined number of coins the trip lever 26 which controls the switch is moved to engage at 29 with a projection 28 on the coin-holder and prevent its return into register with the coin slot. Testing coins.-The coin-cup of the holder 9 is open at the bottom and moves over a plate 12 slotted to permit the escape of undersized coins.
