[Class 27.] Coin action, thrust, and multiple coin.- In meter prepayment mechanism for use with either of two coins, and having two quantity wheels engageable by a pivoted lever carried by a rotable coin pocket, the pivoted lever is coupled with a slide in the coin pocket by releasable means so that it engages both wheels when the smaller coin is inserted, the nearer wheel only with the larger coin, and is released from the slide so as to be inoperative with an intermediate sized coin. The coin slide 4 has an elongated slot 4<c>; the releasable means comprises a plate 10 pivoted thereto and having a pin 10<a> normally engaging a recess 7<a> in a sliding plate 7 on one side of the coin pocket. The plate 7 carries a pin 9 passing through slot 4<c>, and engaging a cam slot 5<c> in the pivoted lever 5. With the smaller coin, plates 4 and 7 are depressed together so that pin 9 moves lever 4 out to its fullest extent. With the larger coin, plate 10 is tilted by engagement with a fixed stop 12, so that slide 7 is released, and is returned by a spring 8 until pin 9 abuts against the top of slot 4<c>, the lever 4 then being in an intermediate position for engagement with one quantity wheel only. If an intermediate sized coin is inserted, plate 10 disengages slide 7, but slide 4 is not sufficiently depressed for the upper end of slot 4<c> to engage pin 9 ; consequently slide 7 and lever 4 are returned to an inoperative position.
