[Class 27] Coin action, thrust, with delivery proportionate to value of coin; coin-slit closing-devices.-In a meter prepayment mechanism for optional use with different coins, the rotary coin pocket has an initial free movement during which a pawl thereon, operated by the coin insertion, is brought into engagement with the striker elements to engage them selectively with the quantity wheels. As shown, the coin-pocket comprises spaced plates 1 carried by a circular disc 2 mounted behind the price-change disc 3, and adapted to be turned by a handle constructed as described in Specification 446,177. Two strikers for selectively driving corresponding quantity wheels are carried by plates 10 and 11 slidablv mounted on a further disc 17 behind the coin-pocket disc 2. A coin inserted into the pocket 1 depresses a slide 6 and with it a pawl 8. After initial rotation of the handle, during which the disc 2 masks the insertion slot in the price-change disc 3, the pawl 8 engages the lower edge of an aperture 23 or 24 in one of the slides 10 or 11 to displace the slide, and cause its striker to engage the respective quantity wheel, the particular slide displaced being determined by the position of the pawl 8 and the size of the inserted coin. With continued rotation, the coin pocket 1 meets the end of an arcuate clearance slot 18 in the disc 17 which is consequently now rotated, and with it the quantity wheel engaged by a striker. The coin pocket 1 is held in driving engagement with the disc 17 by a pivoted pawl 25 on the coin pocket having a recess 27 engageable with a catch 26 on the disc 17. When the coin is discharged at the completion of the forward rotation, the pawl 25 is disengaged by an abutment 29 on the slide 6 as the latter is restored by a spring 7.
