352,616. Prepayment mechanism for gas meters. METROPOLITAN GASMETERS, Ltd. and FORSTER, J. D., Hyson Green, Nottingham. May 9, 1930, No. 14326. [Class 27.] Testing coins; coinslit closing-devices.- Mechanism for use in gas meters and shown applied to the coin mechanism described in Specification 338,231, [Class 27, Coin-freed apparatus &c.], comprises an abutment member 21, 23, which normally obstructs the passage of a coin into the coin holder and is pivoted to a slide 14, movable by an inserted coin, to ensure that it is moved out of the path of the coin only when this is of a predetermined diameter. The slide 14 is spring-controlled and is slidable in a pocket 11 which is slotted at 22 to receive the obturating portion 21 of the member 21, 23. A correct coin inserted in the slot depresses the slide 14 whereby a cam surface 21a on the obturator 21 engages an edge 27 of one of the slots 22 so as to rotate the member 21, 23 in the direction of the arrow " a " permitting the entry of the coin. Coin-discharging mechanism.-When the coin holder is rotated, the limb 23 engages a stop 28 which moves the member 21, 23, a little farther to release the coin which falls through an opening 29 in the casing.
