Money delivering apparatus. - A machine for delivering coins and/or articles to the value of an inserted - coin, of any one of three or more denominations, or to its value less a predetermined fee, has means for permitting the delivery of coins and articles in any desired combination, and for preventing delivery in excess of the value of the coin inserted. Coinslots 2 - - 5, Fig. 2, for halfcrowns, florins, shillings, and sixpences are provided with shoots having means for testing for weight, diameter and milling, rejected coins passing to a receiver 10. A retained coin comes to rest in one of a series of slots 16 - - 19 in a slidable carriage 20 and depresses a carriage detent. The carriage is then moved e.g. by a lever 29, Fig. 4, having full-stroke mechanism, this movement bringing a halfcrown, florin, or shilling into contact with and operating a slidable member 34 through an abutment 31, 32 or 33; simultaneously five pennies and one halfpenny may be delivered from magazines 60 to the receiver 10. The slidable member 34 through lever and ratchet mechanism rotates a member 39 loose on a shaft 27 to take a stop arm 48 away from an extension 49 of a member 50 slidably keyed to the shaft 27, the extent of separation being proportional to the value of the actuating coin. Levers 54 - - 57 loose on the shaft 27 are then actuated to deliver coins from magazines 60, and through ratchet gearing rotate the shaft 27 until the extension 49 again abuts against the stop arm 48. In order to prevent the operation of either lever 56 or 57 which would deliver a coin of greater value than that due, a slide 77, Fig. 11, carries pivoted catches 79 adapted to engage under the levers, the slide being operated by axial movement of the member 50, which is acted on by a spring 51 and carries a face cam 53 co-operating with a projection 52 on the member 39. In a modification, catches for the levers 54, 55 may also be provided, and the members 48, 49 may then be dispensed with. In order to prevent the operation of more than one lever at a time, a gate 83 has balls 84 and distance pieces 85 so arranged that there is space to admit one lever only. The coin slots 2 - - 5 are closed by a shutter whenever any magazine 60 is empty by mechanism operated from weights in the magazines. When articles are to be delivered, levers similar to the levers 54 - - 57 are arranged to deliver them from magazines, and rotate the shaft 27.
