[Class 27] In a prepayment mechanism, e.g. for a meter, a single stationary chamber is provided for receiving any one of several coins, a coin, as it is inserted through the coin slot, displacing a member in the chamber, which member sets the mechanism so that the extent of its effective operation under the subsequent actuation of a manually actuated handle is dependent on the diameter and value of the coin. A constructional form of the invention applied to a prepayment meter is described which is identical with that described in Specification 476,453 to which reference is made. Specification 476,454 also is referred to.
