Abstract
393,548. Coin-freed mechanism. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES., 1, Hofstrasse, Zug, Switzerland. Feb. 10, 1933, No. 4140. Convention date, March 17, 1932. [Class 27.] Coin action, mechanical-connection; multiple coin ; coin-slit closing-devices.-In coin-freed apparatus of the kind in which the inserted coin is conducted through a guideway into a coin pocket wherein it couples an operating handle to the driving-mechanism, means are provided for preventing the insertion of a second coin before the completion of the operative stroke effected by the presence of the coin already in the pocket comprising a pivotally mounted member which must be moved aside by the entering coin and the operation of which is prevented by the coin in the pocket, together with a rocking bolt which closes the slot during the operation of the handle, the operation of the bolt being effected before the coin in the pocket releases the pivotally mounted member. Means are also provided for adjusting the parts for operation by coins of different diameter, and for preventing the fraudulent withdrawal of a coin by a thread. The coin entering the slot 18 engages the end 10, Fig. 2, of a bent lever 9 the other end 11 of which is engaged by a coin already in the pocket to prevent the insertion of a second coin. The rocking bolt 30, Fig. 1, pivoted at 17, is operated to close the slot, while the inserted coin is still in the path of the lever 9, by a cam on the end of the coin pocket. The coin pocket 6 is rotated when a coin is inserted by a member 25, which engages the coin and is operated by a spring-returned shaft 19 operated frictionally from a handle 20. The coin pocket can be adjusted for coins of varying diameter by means of an adjustable cross-piece 29, a pivoted member 12 in the coin guide 5 being simultaneously adjusted, and the lever 9, the end of which rests against the member 12, bent by hand ; a face plate 16 with an appropriate slot 18 is also fixed. To prevent the withdrawal of a coin on a thread, the coin pocket has on each side a comb-like member co-operating with a pivoted flap which ensures the thread being entrapped in the comb.
