[Class 27.] Testing coins; returning coin.-In coinfreed apparatus requiring more than one coin for each release, the coins pass through a tester 30 to a receptacle 31 provided with two parallel vertical shoots 31<a>, 31<b>. The first coin 32 when two are required, passes to the shoot 31<a> and rests on a projection 33 on a pivoted member 34. The second coin 43 rolls over the coin 32 to the shoot 31<b> and drops on to an inclined end 39 on the member 34 to move this aside and allow both coins to drop to the releasing-mechanism. If more than two coins are required, the projection 33 is arranged at a lower level. One side of the shoot 31<a> is closed by a member 36 pivoted at 35 and having an arm 37 abutting against the usual movable side 38 of the coin tester 30. If the user of the machine has insufficient coins, or the last coin is stopped in the tester, movement of the side 38 of the tester by rotating the actuating knob 41 of the machine or by pressing in a button 44 causes the member 36 to be swung aside and the coins in shoot 31<a> to be returned. Delivery of articles ; coin action, mechanicalconnection.-In the example shown, the coins dropping down the receptacle 31, enter a slot 45a in a rod 45 carried by a bush 46 which is slidable on a rod 49. The coins rotate a rod 40 about its axis and cause one end 42 to enter the tester 30 and hold up any coins subsequently inserted. Rotation of the knob 41 socks a rod 47, which has a pin 48 engaging a slot 50 in a projection from the bush 46, and moves the slide 45 so that the projecting edges of the coins push out the lowest article of a pile.
