494,458. Coin-freed article delivering apparatus. PUTZ, E. Nov. 10, 1937, Nos. 30913 and 30914. Convention dates, Nov. 17, 1936 and May 26, 1937. [Class 27] Coin action, weight and multiple coin ; returning coin.-The apparatus comprises a base portion A, Fig. 1, of moulded material and a glass cover B secured to the base by a slide 1, which contains a coin slit 3 and a coin-returning push-button 2. The apparatus is of square form in plan view as shown in Fig. 2, and contains four magazines of articles with four withdrawing drawers which deliver one to each side of the square. A single coin-freeing mechanism is provided, which allows actuation of only one of the delivering devices at a time. Each withdrawing drawer has a depending pin engaging a slot 24 in its corresponding hand lever 21 which is pivoted at 22 and is pivotally connected at 20 to a locking bolt 18 slidable in an inclined radial guide 8 in a block 6 centrally located in the base A. There is a lever 21 and associated bolt and guide for each delivering drawer. When a lever 21 is actuated, the bolt 18 associated therewith is moved towards the centre of the block 6. Normally actuation is prevented by a vertical bolt 9 sliding in an axial vertical slot 7 in the block. This bolt is controlled by a spring 14 and is connected to a coin lever 11. When a coin or coins, if two are required, are inserted, they pass through a testing shoot 4 and actuate the lever 11 to raise the bolt 9. The lever 11 has a pin 19 engaging a notch 17 on the end of the shoot 4. Improper coins are returned through a shoot 5. After the bolt 9 has been raised, the selected lever 21 is actuated and its bolt 18 moves to the centre of the block 6 and prevents any of the other bolts from moving, thereby locking the other finger levers. When two coins are required, the first coin raises the bolt 9 only so far that the bolt 18, which has a bevelled notched end, engages a tapered prolongation 9x of the bolt 9. A second coin must be inserted to raise the bolt 9 sufficiently to allow full movement of the lever 21.
