Abstract

A coin-freed vending machine as described in parent Specification but modified in being particularly intended for operation by two coins and including a coin rejector operable independently of the delivery drawer by withdrawing the coin guide 112 against the action of a spring 27 to allow free passage of a coin through the slot in the drawer. The coin guide 112 is adjustable laterally of a channel piece 23 having upturned edges 23a, 23b by a screw and slot 24, 21. The guide may be fixed in one of a plurality of different positions relative to the pawl plate 9 corresponding to different coin denominations. The edge 23b has an operating handle 23e at one end and a plate portion 23c mounted at the other end and connected by the spring 27 to a fixed support plate 26. An edge 26a of the plate 26 guides the edge 23b for movement of the channel piece 23 and guide 112 away from and toward the plate 26 under the influence of the spring 27. A first inserted coin is supported on edge between edges 23a, 23b. A second inserted coin is deflected from the edge of the first coin and is supported between the bar 112 and the edge of the plate 9 for releasing the drawer. To return the coins instead of operating the drawer, handle 23e is pulled to withdraw the edge 23a and bar 112 from abutment with the plate 26 so that the coins fall through the drawer slot to a reject shoot and tray (not shown). An adjustable lever (Fig. 2, not shown) may be provided for preventing oversize second coins from reaching a drawer freeing position, by means of a lug extending into the coin path.
