518,630. Coin-testing devices in coin-freed machines. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd., and ROBINSON, M. H. Aug. 30, 1938, No. 25398. [Class 27] In coin-freed machines in which coin-testing devices 3, 5 and 7 operate in sequence with provision for directing rejected coins to an outlet shoot 13 leading to a return tray 14, delivery can be expedited in special circumstances by setting the delivery-apparatus in action after any particular coin-test insead of at the end of the series. During normal working the passage of the accepted coin down the final shoot 8 trips the lever 24 and thus closes contacts 26. This initiates delivery. For special circumstances, for example, the issue of tickets during rush hours, a similar apparatus 22 may be installed after the tester 5 or at any other point in the system. In such a case the coins pass through the remaining tests after delivery of the article. Rejected coins in such cases are retained in the shoot 13 by the pivoted arm 28 which is raised automatically whenever the advance delivery apparatus 22 is set in action. A modification is 'described in which the transfer from deliveryapparatus 24 to 22 is made by operating a twoway switch from a remote point.
