[Class 27] Coin action, mechanical-connection.-Relates to a coin-receiving device for coin-freed apparatus, particularly prepayment electricity meters, of the type comprising an outer sheath 1, Fig. 3, provided with a cylindrical tunnel 2, a coin entry slot 5 and an outlet slot 6, and an inner rotatable coin-receiving member 3 fitting the tunnel and having a through slot 4 to register with either the slot 5 or the slot 6 but not with both at the same time. According to the invention, stop-means is provided to prevent rotation of the member 3 in the direction opposite to that which effects operation of the apparatus, release-means being also provided for rendering the stop-means temporarily inoperative to permit of such reverse rotation and the discharge of an unsuitable coin. As shown applied to the mechanism described in Specification 437,125, the members 1 and 3 are made of insulating material, the member 3 being normally rotatable in a clockwise direction through 155 degrees and an axially movable coin-measuring member 8, Fig. 2, operating mechanism to establish a credit in accordance with the value of the coin inserted. The stopmeans for preventing reverse rotation comprises a finger 9 rotatable with the barrel 3 and having a projection 10 lying opposite to a slot 11 in a guide 12, and adapted to engage a stop lug 13, Fig. 4, on the end of spring-controlled plunger 15 carried by a slidable bracket 17. Normally the bracket 17 is locked in its forward position by a shoulder 19 on a locking bar 20, which is released, when it is desired to rotate the member 3 in the reverse direction, by pressing in a rod 27 provided with an insulating knob 28 and a return spring 29.
