Savings' boxes; coin action, weight and multiple.-A savings' clock in which the walls of the coin passage may be adjusted to take coins of different diameters and thicknesses, comprises a plate 1 carrying a fixed side wall 2, Figs. 1, 2 and 6, of the coin passage, the other side wall 11 being integral with a narrow end wall 10 and adjustably secured, for different thicknesses of coins, to the arm 5 of a lever 4, 5 by screws 12 in elongated slots 43. The other end wall 13 forms part of an angular plate 13, 14 adjustably secured by screws 45 and elongated slots to the fixed side wall 2. The lever 4, 5 is under the action of a spring 31 to cause the wall 10, in the absence of a coin, to approach the wall 13. When a coin is inserted, it moves the lever 4, 5 about its pivot 3 so that a pin 6 on the arm 4 moves a lever 7, 8 about a vertical pivot 42 and withdraws a spring on the arm 8 from the balance of the clock, which is thus set going. The coin rests on a projecting end 26, Figs. 1 and 7, of a double armed lever 24, 25 carried by the spindle 22 of a bell-crank lever 21, 20 the arm 20 of which is held by a spring 27 against the periphery of a notched exchangeable, disc 19 which is secured to a wheel 17 driven by the clockwork. When the end of the arm 20 enters the notch 18 in the disc 19, the end 26 is withdrawn to allow the coin to drop. A curved portion of the arm 24 enters a notch 15 in the side 11 to hold back a succeeding coin, if one be present. The end of the arm 21 engages behind a lug 37 on the side 11 and prevents it from returning to its original position under the action of the spring 31. When the rear edge of the notch reaches the arm 20 as shown in Fig. 1, the bell crank 20, 21 is moved to release the lug 37 so that the side 11 can move back to actuate the lever 7, 8 and stop the clock if another coin has not been inserted. A coin, however, held back by the arm 24 drops to the end 26 and prevents the side 11 from moving so that the clock continues to go for a further period.
