Clocks combined with gramophones.- Relates to a combined gramophone and alarm clock, and consists in a special arrangement of mechanism whereby the clock releases the gramophone at a predetermined time. In the construction shown, a casing 30 contains a clock 3 having alarm mechanism similar to that normally employed for releasing a bell, and a gramophone driven by a spring motor 2 which is located at one side of the clock. The turntable-carrying spindle extends upwardly through a partition 33 into a compartment formed by the lid 31. The means connecting the alarm mechanism with the gramophone comprises a spring arm 7 (not shown) that can be set to a predetermined position indicated by the usual, alarm setting hand. This spindle has a pin resting on a snail cam driven by the clockwork. The arm 7 carries a locking pin 11 coacting with a lever 13, which is connected by a link 15 to a lever 16 carrying a brake spring 18 adapted to bear against a drum on the governor spindle of the gramophone motor. Normally the stop 11 retains the lever 13 in the position in which the brake 18 is operative, but the arm 7 is gradually moved by the alarm mechanism until, at the set time, the stop 11 is fully withdrawn, releasing the lever 13, so that the gramophone brake is taken off. The trip-mechanism may be reset by a knob 20. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following. The apparatus may be weight-driven, or may be actuated by electric or pneumatic means. The source of energy may be common to both the gramophone and the clock, or separate and different sources of energy may be used. Various modifications may be made in the arrangement of the brake-operating mechanism. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
