Abstract
23,179. Edgar, W. Oct. 6. Gas, supplying by meter.-Relates to prepayment attachments for meters of the type described in Specification 5851/02, and consists chiefly in the construction of the parts, and in the means for braking the clock-work and for indicating the position of the gas valve. The valve is controlled by clock - work mechanism 7, and is closed at the conclusion of the supply by a projection 12 on a spring controlled lever 10, owing to the engagement of a pin 31 on one of the wheels of the train with a projection 39 on the lever. Simultaneously, an arm 14 of the lever applies a brake 16 to one of the wheels of the train and stops the clock, and a second arm 13 raises the notice ' gas off ' behind a window in the casing. The mainspring is wound and the pin 31 rotated away from the projection 39 by the rotation of a handle 24 and cylinder 23 after prepayment. The supply can be cut off at any time by turning the handle 24 so as to remove the cut-away portion 28 of the rim 27 of the cylinder 23 from beneath the nose 11 of the lever 10. Coin action, mechanical-connexion.-The coin inserted in a slot 32 in 'the casing couples a cylinder 20 on the mainspring spindle to the cylinder 23, the rotation of which is limited to half a revolution by the engagement of a projection 29 with a fixed stop 30.
