Abstract

Mules.-In means for regulating the tension in the backing-off chain by adjusting the tension of the snail wheel chain by a device controlled by the movements of the shaper lever or copping- rail, the snail wheel chain 1 is attached to a bracket 4 secured to the shaper levers and passes over a shoe 6 and a pulley 11, both adjustably mounted on a three-armed lever 8, the arm 8<b> of which embraces the lever 5. The chain 1 also passes under a pulley 13 adjustably mounted in a bracket 14 secured to the carriage middle, and over a pulley 15 carried by a lever 17 fulcrumed on a bracket 19 and having a curved adjustable shoe 17<b> engaging an inclined surface 4<c> on the bracket 4. When the device is employed in the spinning of cops as distinguished from building the yarn on pims or spools the chain 1 is passed under the pulley 11 and over the pulley 13, and the lever 17 is secured in a vertical position.
