Abstract

183,211. Holden, J., and Holden, A. P. T. April 14, 1921. Stop-motions, shuttle.-In circular-box looms, the incoming picker acts upon a chain, strap, or wire, &c. S, Fig. 1, which slides on the picker spindle and is connected to a pulley &c. A. This strap &c., or another one S<1>, passes from the pulley A underneath an arm or lever attached to the stop-rod R or under a pulley B on a part attached to this arm &c., and is attached to the lay, so that, in case the shuttle is properly boxed, the usual tongue on the stop-rod is raised, while otherwise it remains in position to engage the usual stop or frog and stop the loom. The pulley A may be of two diameters, and it is adjustable along its bearing. The strap S or S' may be connected direct to the side of the stop-rod, or to the pulley B &c., or to an arm carried from the stop-rod. In place of the strap S, the ordinary check strap C may be employed, this being led over a friction pulley A<x>, Fig. 4, and under the stop-rod arm pulley B, and thence over another pulley A<2> and along the lay in the usual manner.
