Abstract

Tension arrangements; creel arrangements.- A thread-tensioning device for winding or spooling machines comprises a C-shaped bracket including foldable arms 2, 3, Fig. 1, the thread passing over the forked head 13 on the arm 2 and beneath a guide 14, while it may be further guided by a groove in the head 13. It is tensioned by a resilient metal member 20, one end of which is fixed to a brake-shoe 19 acted upon by a bent wire arm 16 pivoted on the head and acted upon by an adjustable weight 18. The member 20 is bent so as to form two threadengaging points 21. The head may be provided with a recess to receive a removable wear-plate of porce:ain &c. In a modification, the thread is acted upon directly by a shoe 24, Fig. 4, having spaced thread-engaging portions 25. The arm 3 is notched to engage the supporting-rod of the spooling-machine and has an extension 6 carrying the bobbin-spindle supporting-member 7.
