Abstract
441,556. Sewing-machines. MASTALIA, E., (known as MASTLE, H.), 52, Avenue Hill, Chapeltown, Leeds. July 25, 1934, No. 21771. [Class 112] A tensioning device is capable of variable adjustment and can be changed rapidly from one tension to another without disturbing the original adjustment of the settings. In one form, the thread is passed between tension discs 1 set by the usual nut and spring for a tight tension. The thread is then passed between discs 13 set for a loose tension. For a light stitch, the tension is applied by the discs 1. For a loose stitch, the arm 5 is swung over by its handle 10 to cause its wedge-like end 11 to separate the discs 1 so that the tension on the thread is applied by the discs 13. The discs 13 may be dispensed with and the tensions varied by using the wedge 11 with an adjustable stop to determine the degree of separation of the discs 1.
