Abstract

373,707. Delivery-controlling and tension and stop apparatus for copwinding machines. FAIRBAIRN, LAWSON, COMBE, BARBOUR, Ltd., Hope Foundry, Mabgate, Leeds.-(Dawson, G.; Calcutta, India.) March 24, 1931, No. 8980. [Class 120 (ii).] In a drag device for cop-winding machines, a drag member comprising an arcuate spring 18, Fig. 1, is pressed against the yarn 11 on the delivery bobbin 12 by a torsion spring 20, Fig. 3, one end of which is secured to a bracket 16 supporting the spring 18. The bracket 16 is rotatably mounted on a pin 17 carried by a projection 14a on the bracket 14 which supports the bobbin spindle 6. The other end of the torsion spring is secured to a boss 19 on the pin 17 by a set-screw which clamps it thereto and permits angular adjustment of the boss 19 relatively to the bracket 16 for varying the pressure of the spring 18 on the yarn. The yarn 11 passes from the bobbin over a thread guide 8 on a thread stick or tension lever 7 provided with an adjustable tensioning spring 23 adapted to operate the knock-off spindle 21 if the yarn breaks.
