Abstract
373,878. Apparatus for winding yarns on spools. BRUGGER & CO. TEXTILMASCHINENFABRIK, Horgen, Switzerland. Sept. 1, 1931, No. 24562. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1930. [Class 120 (ii).] In a weft-winding machine provided with a reciprocated thread-guiding spindle, a spool carrier is mounted between an axially movable winding spindle and a counter member, the spindle, which forms one portion of an interengaging clutch, being axially displaceable to connect it with a driving member forming the other clutch portion. A spool holder 7 is operatively connected to a winding spindle 2 which is axially displaceable in a casing 1. A driving disc 3 forming part of the spindle is thrust away from a driving member 4 by a spring 5, Fig. 5, in the latter but is adapted to be engaged therewith when a resilient counter member 10, which supports the other end of the spool holder 7, is displaced to the left by a control lever 15 having a toothed sector 14 engaging a rack on the counter member 10. The counter member 10 slides in a casing 13 mounted on a frame bar 21 supported by the casing 1. The lever 15 is locked in its operative position by a stud 16, Fig. 6, thereon engaging a recess 18<1> in an aperture 18 in a plate 17 pivoted at 19 to the casing 13 and is released to allow the spring 5 to disconnect the drive when either the yarn breaks, the tension is excessive or the spool attains a predetermined diameter. A thread guide 26 mounted on a disc 23 rotatable on the casing 13 is maintained in the position shown in Fig. 1 by the yarn passing to a guide stirrup 29. Excessive tension in the yarn rocks the thread-guide 26 to the left and a pin 24 on the disc 23 engages the apertured plate 17 to raise it and free the lever 15. If the yarn breaks, known spring means rotate the guide to the right and a stud 25 on the disc 23 raises the plate 17. When the spool has attained a sufficient diameter, an adjustable stop on the thread stirrup 29 engages a lug 33 on the plate 17 to raise it and disconnect the drive. The stirrup 29 comprises a feeler wheel 31 by which it is progressively moved along a screwed'rod 30 and the rod 30 is connected by bent arms 39, 40 to one arm of a lever 37, the other arm of which engages a traverse cam 36 driven from the winding spindle 2 and formed with differently inclined cam portions to increase the binding-effect between different windings. To enable spools of different diameters to be wound, the adjustable stop on the stirrup 29, the bent arm 40 and the mountings of the screwed rod 30 are adjustable towards and away from the winding spindle 2.
