Abstract
3913. Brabant & Vandier, E. & G. Feb. 25, 1910, [Convention date]. Winding-machines; tension arrangements; stop-motions.- The bobbin carrier of a slitdrum winder is disposed and arranged so that the line of the winding contact and the axes of the drum and bobbin remain in one and the same plane during the whole of the winding, and so that the yarn is always delivered along the common tangent of the bobbin and drum. Further, the bobbin carrier is operatively connected with means for decreasing the pressure of the bobbin on the driving-drum and also the tension of the yarn as the diameter increases, and with means for stopping the bobbin upon breakage of the thread and upon the completion of the winding. The bobbin is carried by a sliding carriage 2 which moves along guides 1 at right-angles to the axis of the drum and is carried by the upper arms of levers 11, 13 pivoted at 12. The carriage is connected bv a cord or chain 9 with a weighted pulley 8, so that as the bobbin recedes from the drum the effective leverage of the weighting-cord 40 diminishes. The yarn is deflected by an eye 24 on its way to the drum, and is led over a rod 5 on the carriage so as to be delivered along the common tangent of the bobbin and drum. A cord 19', attached at one end to the rod that carries the eye 24, passes around a rod 14 on the lower arms of the levers 11, 13 and is secured to a spring plate 18 rigidly secured to a shaft 17<1>. Two arms 25 are pivotally adjusted on the shaft 17<1> so as to be in unstable equilibrium, and are provided with an adjustable stop 31 which bears against the spring 18. A cord 48 is secured at its ends to the stop 31 and the rod 14 respectively, and passes through holes in the lower arms of a pivoted frame 41, 42. As the winding proceeds, the arm 13 is moved so as to increase the angle #, and thus permits the eye 24 to rise and decrease the deflexion a of the yarn. If the yarn should break, the cord 19<1> is released and the spring 18 overbalances the arms 25, which then fall towards the left and draw the cord 48 taut, thus operating the levers 11, 13 and 41, 42; these respectively withdraw the bobbin from the drum and advance the brake frame 44 to stop its rotation. A rod 35 is carried by a pivoted bracket 34 and bears against the rod 14 by reason of the weight of the bracket. When the bobbin is finished, the rod passes beyond the end of the rod 35 and thus allows the bracket 34 to swing about its shaft and destroy the balance of the arms 25 and stop the winding as before described. The upper part of the rod 25 may be directly connected with a lever, which, when the rod 25 overbalances, engages with and removes the bobbin.
