Abstract

Creel-arrangements; spindle-driving apparatus; stop-motions.-In a tension-regulating device for winding, reeling, twisting, doubling, or like textile machines, of the type wherein the yarn c, Fig. 1, is led over a guide m<1> carried by a compensator arm m pivoted at o, the compensator arm m is counter-balanced in such a manner that in combination with a spring f, Fig. 1, interposed between the arm m and means controlling the drive of the winding bobbin b, or with a spring t, Fig. 2, interposed in a connection to a brake band t' controlling the delivery bobbin, any desired tension may be imposed on the yarn and any movement of the arm be caused to decrease or increase the effect of the counter-balancing means proportionately to and in synchronism with the decrease or increase in the effect of the spring and thereby to maintain a substantially constant tension on the yarn for all working positions of the arm m. The arm m is adjustably counter-balanced by weights p<1>, r<1>, on threaded rods p, r extending from the boss n. The spindle a is driven from a gear a<1> on a shaft a<2> carrying a friction disc d adapted to be driven by a friction-wheel e. An arm g' on the starting-lever g engages a collar h and holds the disc d in contact with the wheel e against the spring f. The arm m is connected by a link k to a rod j adjustably secured in a block j<1> and from which depends a bar i shouldered at i', the end of the bar i passing through the slotted end g<2> of the lever g. A brake-strap n<3> round the disc d is connected at n<2> to a projection n<1> on the boss n. The bell-crank lever s<1>, s<2> serves to stop the machine on completion of winding. In operation an increased tension on the yarn c raises the bar i whereupon the lever g rises and the compression of the spring f is reduced, the weights p<1>, r<1> being so chosen and set that their effective moment is simultaneously reduced. If the tension continues to increase the spindle-drive is stopped. If the yarn tension is reduced the arm m rises and the discs d, e are forced more tightly into contact, the balancing moment of the weights p<1>, r<1> also increasing. If desired the two weights p<1>, r<1> may be replaced by a single weight of quadrant shape. In a further modification the weights p<1>, r<1> are replaced by springs w, y, connected to a roller u<1> movable on a curved rod u, Fig. 3, the shape of this rod to produce the desired action being determined under working conditions.
