Abstract

199,757. Morrison, J. W., and Holt, T. W. Dec. 7, 1922. Winding-machines; thread guides.-Relates to yarn winding-machines of the kind wherein the yarn is wound on a horizontal spindle and the yarn guide is supported by a drum which encloses the traverse cam. The guide is mounted on a carriage m, sliding on a spindle l between buffer springs l<1> and guided by a pressure plate j supported by the drum i, which is weighted to apply the necessary pressure to the guide and encloses a cam k having a raised track provided with peaks k<1> to ensure a quick reversal of the guide. The cam is mounted on a shaft d<1> driven by spur wheels from cone pulleys e, c; the pulley e is mounted on the spindle shaft f, which is driven by the pulley f<1>, and the pulley c is mounted on a shaft a carried in a bracket a<2>, adjustable around a bolt a<3> to regulate the tension of the belt and secured in position by a stud a<5>. The belt fork is adjusted by a screwed stud h<4> and is normally pressed towards the right by a spring h<3>. The yarn guide consists of a bent wire n and a plate o with a rounded contact face and a V- notch. Specifications 194,518, 194,903, and 196,140 are referred to.
