Abstract

Regulating rate of flow; sliding tubular valves.-A push-actuated piston valve, of the type having a tubular member f closed at one end and provided with perforations g adapted to be placed on either side of a cup-leather or like packing e, has a regulating-sleeve f<1> screwed into the tubular member for obturating more or less of the perforations. The valve is held in the closed position by a bayonet-catch formed by a cap n, which is secured to the valve spindle j and formed with an angle slot o adapted to engage a pin p on the casing. The spindle is provided with a flange k which acts as a stop and as a support for a buffer l. The valve may be actuated by a quick-threaded screw or by a rack and pinion. According to the Provisional Specification, a solid plunger may be used in place of the tubular member, and the valve may be regulated by adjusting the distance through which the valve member is moved.
