13,245. Stokes, F. W. S. May 29. Check lift valves.-A valve for use in refrigerating-apparatus is controlled by a spring or weight and by the difference of pressure on its two sides. The valve member D' is held closed by a spring D<2> which rests on a sleeve D<3> in which the valve spindle slides. The strength of the spring is adjustable by means of the screw plug D<5>. In an alternative form, Fig. 4, the valve is closed by liquid under pressure from a pipe N, acting in opposition to an adjustable spring D<2>. Inlet is by a pipe C<2>, and outlet by a pipe E.
