Radial - cylinder engines; revolving-cylinder and reciprocating- piston type.-In an engine having an odd number of radial cylinders in each of two groups which rotate in an opposite direction to the crank - shaft which has a pair of diametrically opposite cranks, each piston is connected directly to the crankshaft and the connecting-rods, for example 1<e>, 4<e>, and each pair of diametrically opposed cylinders are separated laterally by a distance d which is equal to the distance between the axes of the corresponding cylinders.
