Abstract
26,932. Porsche, F. Nov. 22. Motor power plant.-A propeller for aerial machines is driven by two motors through clutches and a differential gear, so that, when one of the motors is unclutched, the corresponding transmission wheel of the differential is stopped. The flywheels 4, 5 of motors 2, 3 are connected by clutches 9, 10 to shafts 7, 8. The clutches are formed in one with brake disks 11, 12. The engine 2 drives the bevel-wheel 17 of the differential through pinions 20, 19, and the engine 3 drives the bevelwheel 21 of the differential through pinions 23, 22. The propeller 1 is connected by the yoke 26 with the cross-piece 25 of the differential. When an engine stops, it is unclutched, and one or other of the brackets 11, 12 is brought into action so as to lock one of the wheels 21, 17 so that the propeller is driven at half-speed.
