Abstract
124,549. Brookes, N. E., (Prussian, S. W.). March 21, 1918. Motor or power units.-A transmission gear for motor-vehicles, more partictilarly for use with planetary change-speed gearing and for driving auxiliary apparatus such as the winding drum of a tip truck, comprises a power shaft 3, a connecting-shaft 6, and a driving-shaft 12. The shafts 3, 6 are connected by a square 7 and a socket 16 to permit slight end movement, and the driving- shaft 12 is driven by a clutch member 11 which is carried in bearings 19, and supports the end of the shaft 6. The shaft 6 carries a clutch member 29 mating with the member 11 and provided with a gear 27 which can be moved into driving engagement with gear 26 or an auxiliary shaft 24. The shaft 24 is carried in bearings formed in a case 28 and an end-plate 37 fitted between the case 28 and the change-speed gear casing 42.
