Abstract

110,083. Bloxham, A. G., (Ewing, W. B.). Feb. 1, 1917. Reversing-gearing for tractors, of the type in which a driving-pinion engages directly with a driven wheel for forward drive and is disengaged so that a reversing-pinion may engage the driving and driven wheels for reverse is controlled by a lever with two arms linked to the driving and reversing pinions respectively. The shaft 29 is driven from the engine through a clutch 27, 28 and carries a pinion 37 adapted for forward drive, to be slid into engagement with the master-wheel 8 of a differential gear driving shafts 6 geared to the traction wheels. For the reverse drive, an idle sliding pinion 38 is engaged both with the wheel 8 and with the pinion 37. The movements are controlled bv a hand-lever 45 on a spindle 42 carrying a double-armed lever 40, 41 connected by a links 40<a>, 41<a> to sleeves 46, 47 provided with iorks 46<a>, 47a engaging grooves in the pinions 37, 38. In one position, both pinions are disengaged from the wheel 8, so that a pulley 48<1> on the shaft 29 may be used to supply power to other machinery.
