Abstract

5538. Gimmy, H. March 8. Reversing-gearing.-Relates to gearing of the class in which direct and reversed drives are alternatively obtainable through a positive clutch and through an idle bevel-wheel, respectively. A driving-pulley l is secured to a sleeve h, loosely mounted on a shaft b to be driven. The sleeve h carries a positive clutch member k, which takes the form of a bevel-toothed gear. A sleeve d, which slides on a feather n on the shaft b, carries an internal bevel-gear f adapted to mesh with the gear k for forward driving. A 'idle' wheel m meshes constantly with a gear i secured to the sleeve h, and is adapted to be engaged, for reversed driving, by a gear e secured to the sleeve d. The clutch members f, k are disengaged, and the gears e, m intermeshed, by one movement of a lever g.
