Tappet-actuated pumps; stroke, varying.- The plunger of the fuel-supply pump of an internal-combustion engine is actuated by a tappet driven by a cam from the crank-shaft. The stroke of the pump is controlled by a governor which alters the position of a strokeadjusting nut which bears upon an arm carried by the plunger.
