Abstract

399. Clark, H. R. Jan. 9. Cam-actuated pumps.-In a reversible twostroke-cycle internal-combustion engine, the fuel-pump is actuated through a cam 11 reciprocated from an eccentric 15, which is driven from the crank-shaft so that the time of injection is correct for both directions of rotation. If fuel injection takes place at the end of the stroke, the eccentric is fixed on the crank-shaft. If injection is near the end of the stroke, the eccentric is driven from a projection 21 on the crank-shaft and through a plate 18, the projection being allowed some movement in a recess in the plate. The eccentric sheave is adjustably attached to the plate.
