[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Eccentric-actuated pumps; stroke, varying.-The fuel pumps of an internal-combustion engine are driven bya variable-stroke eccentric consisting of a cylindrical sleeve 2, Fig. 1, slidably mounted at a slight angle upon a shaft 1 and carrying the sheave 3 of an eccentric driving the pump plunger 7. The shaft, sleeve, and eccentric sheave are keyed so that they rotate together, and the longitudinal position of the sleeve upon the shaft is adjusted, for the purpose of varying the stroke, by means of a lever 9.
