Abstract

138,509. Gartmann, G. April 30, 1919. Starting. - In a starting- device in which a pump b forces air through a carburetting-chamber k filled with absorbent material supplied with fuel by a pump p, and in which the pumps are actuated by a single lever g, fuel is first pumped into the chamber k ready to carburet the air afterwards supplied. In the form shown, the plunger q of the fuel pump is actuated by the plunger of the air-pump at the end of its stroke. The pump lever g actuates an ignition magneto by means of a slot t in the lever engaged by a pin on the arm u on the magneto shaft v. In a madification, the fuel pump is outside the carburetting-chamber k, and its plunger is separately connected to the lever g.
