Abstract

12,777. Forster, J., and Kacafirek, R. June 28, 1911, [Convention date]. Four-stroke-cycle engines; driving-gear.-Engines with three or more cylinders have a common combustion space, and in a four-cylinder engine arranged as shown in Fig. 1, the combustion space is enclosed by oppositely-moving pistons having rods which slide in lugs 23, 24, 27, 28 formed on the cylinders. If desired, the rods 25, 26 may be prolonged to engage an overhead additional crank-shaft secured to rods on the pistons 17, 18. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) describes also a modification in which the cylinders 5, 6 are replaced by a centrally-disposed single cylinder, the piston-rod of which passes through a thickened partition wall between the cylinders on the supporting plate 1. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
